Special Services Bus Program
The Special Services Bus provides low-cost rides to senior citizens ages 60 years and older and all special needs/handicapped individuals residing in the city of Ralston and La Vista. Those that are unable to afford a cab or ride program can utilize this bus to remain as independent as possible and remain in their homes for a longer period of time. The service operates Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

What services do you provide?
The Special Services Bus is available for senior citizens ages 60 and older and all special needs/ handicapped individuals residing in the cities of La Vista and Ralston. The services operates Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. The service does not operate on City of La Vista holidays or when Papillion-La Vista or Ralston Public Schools are closed due to weather conditions. For questions about service, fees, etc., please call the La Vista Recreation Department at 402-331-3455, or visit us online.
For reservations, call 402-657-3550 at least 48 hours in advance. We make every effort to accommodate, but sometimes due to prior scheduling, we may not be able to help everyone at their requested times. During the Covid-19 crisis, masks are required while riding the Special Services Bus to protect others and yourself from infection. Masks will be supplied to you if you do not have one.
How have you seen the organization make a difference?
The La Vista Special Services Bus Program provides low cost rides to those who might not otherwise be able to afford the cost of cab or other ride program. This program allows handicap individuals or Seniors to remain as independent as possible and able to stay in their own homes for a longer period of time.
Is there anything you wish more people knew about your organization?
The city of La Vista also has a Senior Center for those ages 55+. Please visit www.cityoflavista.org/seniors to see our senior newsletter that displays our various senior recreation programs and the ENOA lunch menus. Lunch is served M-F at 11:30am. The suggested contribution for this meal is $4.
The La Vista/Ralston Special Services Buses transport Seniors and those with impairments all over the metro area and even on group outings through the La Vista Senior Center.
