Chariots4Hope
A reliable vehicle is an important part of everyday life. Most people must drive to a job every day, maybe an occasional doctor’s appointment or drop children off at childcare. A vehicle is easy to take for granted, and not everyone has the privilege of driving every day. Some people may be rebuilding their lives after addiction, facing homelessness or simply unable to afford a vehicle of their own. Chariots4Hope helps close that transportation gap with their four main programs centered around self-sufficient transportation. As a referral-only organization, Chariots4Hope partners with approved agencies to connect individuals to these services, ensuring support reaches those who need it most.
What services does Chariots4Hope provide?
Chariots4Hope supports individuals to overcome transportation barriers through a range of practical programs designed for long-term success. The four main programs include:
- Road2Freedom program: This program offers educational support to help individuals build a sustainable, long-term transportation strategy.
- SafeRoute program: A trauma informed ride-share program that safely transports people from Heartland Family Services to a safe house for recovery.
- Transportation grants: Provides free or reduced cost assistance for necessary vehicle repairs.
- Vehicle Ownership Program: Assistance in securing a vehicle for someone in need
How has the organization made a difference?
Chariots4Hope creates a lasting impact on everyone involved in its programs. Individuals who receive a donated vehicle are encouraged to participate in the organization’s Beyond the Car events, which provides a supportive community long after the initial donation. This ongoing connection helps foster stability, encouragement and growth. In fact, the very first recipient, a woman who received a vehicle in 2014, continues to attend Beyond the Car events today, demonstrating the program’s enduring influence.
How can people get connected/involved?
Chariots4Hope relies heavily on their volunteers. The non-profit currently has over 200 active volunteers, but they are always looking for more to support their mission. There are many ways you can get involved.
- Vehicle Pick-up: Help pick-up donated vehicles
- Childcare Provider: Help watch children while parents are taking part in Bible study
- Vehicle Detailing: Clean donated vehicles.
- Meal Provider: Pay for meals or make them for community events
