Society of St. Vincent de Paul Omaha

When barriers like food insecurity, homelessness or material shortages arise, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Omaha steps forward to close the gap. Their programs offer a sense of dignity and hope for struggling individuals and families. Whether it’s a sacked lunch, or a browse through their Closet Door (clothing and personal care items for the homeless), Society of St. Vincent de Paul is sure to meet their neighbors halfway, even when life feels uncertain.

What services do you provide?

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul Omaha offers a range of programs to support people in need. Its Food Choice Pantry serves over 36,000 individuals and families each year with nonperishable items and fresh, frozen foods. The Closet Door assists more than 1,000 people annually, providing clothing, shoes, blankets, and essentials for those without stable housing. Rooted in faith, the organization also supports the homeless with meals, works to prevent homelessness, and responds quickly when disasters strike.

How has the organization made a difference?

Since 1868, SSVP has been helping people around the Omaha area through hard times. This could be assisting a family or individual back on their feet by providing help during a medical crisis or helping a single mom through a food pantry for the first time. Everyone has different barriers, and SSVP reaches out a helping hand.
