Together
Together is driven by a simple mission: to end hunger and homelessness. The non-profit in Omaha has been hard at work trying to combat these challenges since 1975, when a devastating tornado tore through the city. After areas of Omaha were left in ruins, churches in the community came together to support those in need. That’s when Together was organized. They helped families get back on their feet by providing necessities like food, clothing and shelter. However, they didn’t stop there. They knew some families needed help every day, not just emergency relief, which is why the organization is still going strong.
What services do you provide?
Together meets individuals and families wherever they are on their journey. They have four core services which include:
Food Access: This is a low-barrier Food Pantry of Choice that serves thousands each year, offered in Council Bluffs and Omaha. For more information, contact Alexis Shallberg
Housing Stability Clinic: This is a “no wrong door” access point that provides housing problem-solving, diversion and connections to resources across the community. Please contact Nicole Bayne for more information.
Prevention & Crisis Support: Assistance with rent, utilities, transportation and document recovery to help stabilize households quickly. Please contact Destiny Thomson for more information.
Advocacy & Resource Navigation: Supports individuals in accessing benefits and navigating systems. Please submit the referral form if you are interested.
How has the organization made a difference?
Together serves thousands of households each year, offering both immediate relief and a path toward long-term stability. Grounded in dignity, choice and rapid response, the organization works to prevent homelessness and help individuals move out of crisis faster. The organization also partners with healthcare systems and community providers to help address social drivers of health, reducing barriers that often lead to repeat crisis.
How can people get connected/involved?
